SHERCO CLASSIC

The game that started it all!

The game is centered around the 9 x 7 Pitching Chart.  Batters are rated AAA through G, and pitchers are rated J, K, L, M, X, Y, and Z.  The batter's rating is cross-referenced with the pitcher's rating to arrive at the Probable Hit Number.  If the dice roll equals or exceed the Probable Hit Number, play progresses to the Probable Hit Chart for one of the eight possible on-base situations.

When the dice roll is NOT greater than or equal to the Probable Hit Number, it is checked agains the pitcher's BB rating and/or K rating to see if the batter walked or struck out instead.  If the dice roll is less than or equal to the pitcher's BB rating, the batter walks.  If the dice roll is greater than the BB rating, but less than or equal to the pitcher's K rating, the batter strikes out.  If there's no Probable Hit, no walk, and no strikeout, play goes to the Probable Out Chart to resolve the play.

The field is represented by a grid that measures 28 squares by 28 squares.  Each side of a square is equal to 15 feet.  All Probable Hit and Probable Out results refer to squares on the grid, and the ball is placed on that square as a reminder of its position on the field.  Individual stadium charts (included with the game) tailor each park so that different squares are behind the wall ... that fly ball to 15-24 might be a homer at Fenway, but is a deep fly out at the Coliseum in Oakland.

Fielding is handled by a unique stop-action system in which each base-advancement phase of a play is handled as one "throw" (or turn).  Fielders can be moved onto any square that you like, but beware ... that square you just left may be the very square the ball is hit to ...

SherCo Classic has it all ... base stealing, a pick-off chart, injuries, the hit-and-run, variable results, wind, ricochets off the walls, special rules for odd ballpark quirks (like Monument Park at Old Yankee Stadium), rainouts, power outages in domed stadiums ... just about everything that happens in real baseball can happen in SherCo Classic.  And, when combined with some really cool optional rules found on our Files page, you can add instant replay, modern-day infield shifts, incredible catches at the fence, and much more to make SherCo Classic the most enjoyable for you as you want!
